A resilient seated valve is a valve that may be used to regulate or isolate flow. The disc, which rests in the center of the valve body, is the closing mechanism. The shaft, which extends from the disc through the top of the valve body, connects the disc to a handle or actuator. The disc of a butterfly valve, unlike a ball valve, is constantly present in the flow, causing a pressure decrease. Resilient valves can be shut off rapidly, yet they don't need as much support as a heavy ball valve.
