The knife edge gate valve is given a special and specific design that ensures there is least contact among the parts of the valve reducing the wear and tear due to the frequent contact. As the shape of the wedge is partly circular and rectangular, the flow changes in a non linear manner. The main difference that you find in the gate valve and the knife gate valve is that it does not have the bonnet just like the simple gate valve. Bi directional knife edge gate valve is seal on either side of the gate & work with back pressures, and providing sufficient water tightness while Uni directional knife edge gate valve is seal on just one side and is economic general purpose valve operated both way.
